Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Br. Donald Alford:

Br. Donald Alford was a member of the Congregation of Christian Brothers from Australia, who served in the Diocese of Norwich. He arrived in the U.S. in 1993 where he worked for 10 years at the Academy at Mount Saint John for at risk children in Deep River.

According to media reports, Br. Donald Alford was implicated in the sexual abuse of young boys while assigned to St. Augustine’s Boys Orphanage in Geelong, Victoria. In November 2018, he was named in lawsuits filed against the Diocese of Norwich by 24 plaintiffs who alleged they were sexually assaulted when they were 10–15-year-old residents at the Academy of Mount Saint John during the years 1986-2000. Br. Alford who was the school’s music teacher and its Boy Scout troop leader, is named in two suits. In one suit, he is accused of forcing a 13-year-old boy to perform oral sex on him.

Br. Donald Alford died in 2004.
