Summary of Abuse Allegations against Brother/Monsignor Charles Fatooh:

Brother/Monsignor Charles Fatooh started his career in ministry in 1965 as a Marianist brother. He became principal of Chaminade on the Chatsworth campus in 1979, and was voted Teacher of the Year in 1975. He left the Marianists in 1985 and was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Monterey, where he became Monsignor, Chancellor, and Moderator of the Curia.

According to media reports, in 2006, Monsignor Fatooh was named in a lawsuit alleging that he abused a student from 1973 to 1974 at Chaminade College Prep in Canoga Park. He has also been accused of failing to alert police or providing help to a boy who was being molested by another priest he knew in Salinas in 1991. His Marianist personnel file was released in July 2013 as part of the 2007 $660 million settlement with 508 people.

Monsignor Fatooh was included in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles’ list of clergy accused of sex abuse of minors. As of 2017, he is still an active priest at St. Joseph’s in Cayucos, California. Whether he has access to children is unknown.
