Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations Against Brother Sylvester Mancuso:

Br. Sylvester Mancuso of the Franciscan Friars, served 25 years with the church, spanning throughout the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Arizona. Allegations were received in 1999 and again in 2004 of sexual abuse of minors occurring in 1961 and the early 1970s.

Mancuso was named publicly as accused by the Santa Barbara Province Franciscans and on the Las Cruces Diocese’s list in 2019 of clergy credibly accused of sexual abuse of a minor. He was also named on the Diocese of Gallup list in 2019. He worked within this diocese from 1964-1971.

Mancuso died in 1979 at the age of 64 while residing in Arizona.
