Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Br. David Trichtinger:
Br. David Trichtinger was a member of the Congregation of Christian Brothers who served at multiple schools in the Diocese of Pittsburgh. According to media reports, in December 2018, the Bishop of Pittsburgh, David Zubik, issued a letter to alumni of Seton Lasalle High School informing them that the Diocese had received an allegation of sexual misconduct against Br. David Trichtinger, a former counselor at the school. Trichtinger was assigned to Seton Lasalle from 1985 to 1987. The Diocese of Pittsburgh released little information about the allegation itself, saying only that the alleged abuse took place in 1986.
Trichtinger was also assigned to Central Catholic High School as an administrator from 1991 to 1995. He has not been assigned in the Diocese of Pittsburgh since 1995, according to the Diocese.
Trichtinger has since been removed from ministry, according to the Brothers of the Christian Schools in the District of Eastern North America. At the time of his removal from ministry, Trichtinger was working at Calvert Hall College High School in Baltimore. The status of the internal investigation against him is unknown.
