Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Father Charles Granstrand:

Father Charles Granstrand  was ordained a priest in 1966 and served in the Archdiocese of Newark. He served in multiple parishes throughout his career. According to media reports, in 2010, he was investigated by police following allegations that he had sexually abused two boys in 1996. No official criminal charges were ever filed against him. The father of one victim still blames the priest and claims that the molestation of his son led him to drugs and a downward spiral into criminal activity.

No other information was released by the church of investigating officials. The Archdiocese of Newark’s internal review board recommended that the allegation be deemed unfounded and that Father Granstrand be returned to ministry.  The same board has previously recommended the return of convicted child molesters to ministry, such as Michael Fugee.

Father Granstrand is still in active ministry. He is the pastor emeritus at Our Lady of Mercy in Park Ridge. His name was not included on the February 2019 list of credibly accused priests released by the Archdiocese of Newark.
