Father Edward Ricards was ordained to the priesthood in 1927, and served in the Diocese of Pittsburgh. According to media reports, in August 2018, his name was included on the Diocese list of clergy who were already deceased when an allegation of child sexual abuse was made against them. Details of the allegation, including the number of alleged victims or when and where the alleged misconduct occurred, are unknown. The allegation was filed in 2004, 46 years after his death.

Father Ricards is buried at Calvary Cemetery in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.
