Summary of Abuse Allegations against Father Francis Zappitelli:

According to media reports, Father Francis Zappitelli was ordained for the Diocese of Youngstown. He was removed from the Youngstown Diocese after sex-abuse allegations in the mid-1970s. 

He moved to Arizona in 1983, and was incardinated into the Diocese of Phoenix that April. 

He retired in 2002.

In October 2018, Father Zappitelli’s name appeared on the Diocese of Youngstown list of clergy credibly accused of sexual abuse of a minor.   

In November 2018, the Diocese of Phoenix removed Father Zappitelli from public ministry upon learning that he was accused of sexual misconduct within the Diocese of Youngstown.
