Summary of Abuse Allegations against Father George Pirrung:

Father George Pirrung was ordained in the Diocese of Tucson. According to media reports, in 2003, a man accused Father Pirrung of molesting him in the mid 1950s, at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament in Miami, Arizona. After an investigation, the Diocese of Tucson found two more allegations dating back to 1966. The archives revealed that no action was taken. All of the allegations were found to be credible, and reported the police. No action criminal charges were sought due to the expiration of statute of limitations.

Father Pirrung had become part of the Diocese of Phoenix when it was created in 1969. He retired from there in 1997. After learning of the allegations, the Diocese of Phoenix removed him from ministry.

His name is listed on the Diocese of Tucson’s list of clergy credibly accused of sexual abuse of minors, published in April 2010.

Father Pirrung died in February 2016.

in February 2018, he was also included in the Diocese of Phoenix’s list of “…priests and deacons who have been laicized and/or removed from ministry due to sexual misconduct with a minor.”
