Summary of Abuse Allegations against Father Harold DeJonghe:

According to media reports,  Father Harold DeJonghe was ordained a priest of the Diocese of Salt Lake City, Utah, in 1957. He was incardinated in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles in approximately 1975, and served in the Diocese of Orange. According to media reports, in July 2003, a parent reported that he heard from his daughter, that his son was sexually abused by Father Harold DeJonghe in the early 1980s, while serving at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Covina. In December, the son filed a lawsuit alleging childhood sexual abuse.

As a result of an investigation the Archdiocese of Orange concluded the allegations against Father DeJonghe were unfounded in August 2004. However, he was included in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles’ list of priests accused of sexual misconduct with minors.

At some point between his retirement in 1990 and his death in 1998, Father DeJonghe lived at the Nazareth House in Los Angeles. It is believed that Father DeJonghe was living in Santa Monica, California at the time of his death in 1998.
