Summary of Sexual Abuse allegations against Joseph Macanga:

Joseph Macanga was a priest of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia for about a decade before leaving ministry in 1995.  He became a schoolteacher after living the priesthood.

In 2008, Macanga was arrested for possession of child pornography that he downloaded on his computer sometime in 2006 or 2007.  He pled guilty and was sentenced to 57 months in prison (4.75 years) followed by 5 years of supervised released. He also forfeited his teaching certificate in an administrative proceeding.

He is not required to register as a sex offender.  

There are no publicly known allegations of sexual abuse by Macanga during his brief career as a priest.  

Macanga is likely still alive and believed to be residing in the Lumberton, New Jersey, area.  He is approximately 60 years old.
