Summary of Abuse Allegations against Father Michael L. Barber:

According to media reports, in 1994, Father Michael L. Barber pleaded guilty to a charge of harassment by offensive touching as part of a single allegation of sexual abuse in Strathmere, NJ.

Father Barber was removed from ministry that same year and sent to the Colombiere Jesuit Community in Baltimore, located within a one-mile radius of four primary schools. Per the Jesuits, he is “living in a restricted environment on a safety plan.” At the time of the incident, he was assigned to Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia.

In December 2018, Father Barber was named publicly as accused on the Maryland Province of the Society of Jesus list of Jesuits with credible allegations of sexual abuse of minors since 1950.

In February 2019, Father Barber’s name appeared on the Archdiocese of Baltimore’s list of credibly accused priests.
