Summary of Abuse Allegations against Father Michael Minogue:

According to media reports, Father Michael Minogue and another priest, Father Ken Van de Ven, were accused of sexual harassment by a young man who worked at Our Lady of Lourdes/Prince of Peace in Sun City West. The accuser never went public. Father Minogue, who was close friends with Van de Ven, denied the allegations.

In June 2005, Father Minogue was suspended, although the Diocese of Phoenix said both men left their parish positions for health reasons. Later, letters from Bishop Thomas J. Olmsted showed up in the church bulletins outlining the harassment charges.

Father Minogue was reinstated in January 2007.

“I guess they did an internal investigation and could not find any substance” to the accusation, said Father Minogue. “I am just glad to be back serving the church I love.”

As of June 2008, his name is shown as “retired” per the Diocesan website.

He died in February 2018.
