Summary of Abuse Allegations against Father Robert Buchanan:

According to media reports, Fr. Robert Buchanan was accused of sexually abusing a 14-year-old girl back in 1972 at University High School in San Diego, California. At the time, Buchanan was a counselor at the school. He was sued in 2003 and retired around the time the allegations against him surfaced. The media report states that the victim claims that Buchanan “would touch her body and rub his body up against hers” when she visited his office for academic counseling. Buchanan responded by calling that “a hug” and he denied the allegation.

Prior to the allegations surfacing, Buchanan was sent for treatment, however, the reasons are unknown. After his treatment, he was transferred to work in Reno, Nevada. As of 2005, Buchanan was still living in Reno.

In 2006, Buchanan was reportedly removed from ministry. His current whereabouts and whether he has access to children are unknown.
