Summary of Abuse Allegations against Father Robert Thomas:

Father Robert Thomas was a retired priest of the Diocese of Toledo. He came to the Diocese of Tucson in 1986 and was granted faculties to perform ministry. According to media reports, hours after saying Mass at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in South Toledo, he was arrested in a department store bathroom at Southwyck mall, accepting oral sex from a 16-year-old boy.

Father Thomas admitted to sexual misconduct with a minor from 1982 through 1984. The arrest was expunged, and the arresting officer said he was harassed by his peers for arresting a priest. Father Thomas  was sent for therapy and an after-care program. He was then named pastor of Holy Trinity Church in Bucyrus, Ohio, in July, 1985. He retired from the Toledo Diocese in 1986 and was transferred to the Diocese of Tucson. He was serving there at the time the accusation became public in 2002. Church officials said there was no evidence of abuse in Tucson.

He retired in 1995 and was permanently removed from public ministry in February 2005.
