Father Robert Wood was ordained to the priesthood of the Diocese of Buffalo in 1974. He served in multiple parishes throughout his career. According to media reports, in August 2003, he was removed from his role as pastor of St. Joseph Church in Varysburg, where he had served since 2001, amidst an allegation of child sexual abuse that occurred sixteen years prior. In March 2018, Father Wood’s name was included on the Diocese of Buffalo’s list priests who have been credibly accused of child sexual abuse. Details of the allegation, including when and where the alleged misconduct occurred, are unknown. It is believed that Father Wood is a retired priest living in Buffalo.
He wrote in the parish bulletin that his removal was due to an alleged incident 16 years prior. Included on 3/20/18 diocesan list as removed, retired, or having left ministry after allegations of sexual abuse of a minor.
