Summary of Abuse Allegations against Father Ruben Garcia:

Fr. Ruben Garcia was ordained for the Diocese of Boise in 1972. He worked at various locations in Idaho, New Mexico, and California. According to media reports, he was accused of sexually abusing a boy in Boise, Idaho in 1981. The Diocese of San Bernardino claimed that as of 1986, they became aware of the allegations, but it was not reported to law enforcement until 2006. Garcia left San Bernardino in February 1987.

In 1990, Garcia was incardinated into the Archdiocese of Tijuana in Mexico. In February 1994, he was named in a civil suit that alleged he sexually abused a boy in New Mexico, after treatment by the Paracletes in Jemez Springs. The case was ultimately settled. It was later revealed that Bishop Tod D. Brown of the Diocese of Boise wrote a letter of recommendation to the Archdiocese of Tijuana on behalf of Garcia, even though Bishop Brown was aware of his history of sexual abuse.

In September 2017, Garcia was included in the Archdiocese of Santa Fe’s list of clerics accused of child sexual abuse. In October 2018, he was also included in the Diocese of San Bernardino’s list of clergy credibly accused of child sexual abuse, as well as the Diocese of Santa Rosa’s list  and Diocese of Boise list in 2019.

Garcia is deceased, however, the year he died is unknown.
