Father Thomas Denny was a priest who served in multiple parishes throughout his career including in the Archdiocese of Newark. According to media reports, in January 2019, his name was included on the Northeast Jesuit Province’s list of priests credibly accused of sexually abusing children.
The list includes little information about the nature of the sexual misconduct, except to say that he was accused of “abuse of minors” in 2002 and 2012 for misconduct in the 1960s and 1970s. It is unclear where the priest was assigned at the time of the alleged abuse. According to the Jesuits, he is restricted from ministry and is believed to be living at a Jesuit residence in Manhattan. He is approximately 80 years old.
His name does not appear on the Archdiocese of Newark’s list of credibly accused priests.
