Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Fr. Thomas Lechner:

Fr. Thomas Lechner was ordained a priest in 1966, who served in the Diocese of Erie. According to media reports, he was first publicly identified as an accused priest in October 2018 when the Diocese of Erie added him to its updated list of accused priests, with the caveat that the Diocese has an open, ongoing internal investigation into at least one allegation of sexual abuse.  The current status of that investigation is unclear.

The Diocese of Erie has not provided any information about the number of allegations against Lechner, nor has it released any details such as the age/gender of the alleged victim(s) or the Lechner’s assignment(s) at the time of the abuse. All the Diocese of Erie has said is that Lechner has been laicized (removed from the priesthood).

Lechner is still alive and residing in Sewickley, Pennsylvania.
