Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Msgr. Charles Kaza:

Msgr. Charles Kaza was ordained a priest in 1980. He served in multiple roles throughout his career. He was also president of the DuBois Central Catholic school board. He served in the Diocese of Erie. According to media reports, in May 2019, he was removed from active ministry as pastor of St. Tobias in Brockway pending an unspecified investigation into an allegation that he sexually abused a minor child. The allegation was first reported to the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office. The alleged misconduct occurred in the 1980s while Kaza was assigned to St. John the Baptist in Erie.

In June 2020, Bishop Persico publicly stated that the allegation was not credible (meaning the Diocese does not believe the victim’s report about his or her abuse) and returned Kaza to active ministry.  No details about the alleged misconduct or the alleged victim have ever been released.
