Summary of Abuse Allegations against Monsignor Gerard Leo Green:

Monsignor Gerard “Jerry” Leo Green was a Bishop Turner High teacher and Boy Scout camp chaplain. He was a member of many organizations including the Knights of Columbus, the Diocesan Finance Council; the Diocesan Cemetery Board, and the Priests’ Retirement Board. He was the recipient of many awards, including the Cure of Ars Award from Christ the King Seminary, East Aurora, and the Charity and Justice Award from the Catholic Charities Outreach Program in 1999. He was also included in “Whos Who in the East” from 1969 to 1997. He retired in 1999 and died in August 2012.

According to media reports, in November 2018, Monsignor Green’s name was included in the Diocese of Buffalo’s updated list of priests with substantiated claims of sexual abuse of a minor. The original list was published in March 2018, and includes deceased priests only if they have more than one allegation.

In August 2019, he was named in a lawsuit filed under the NY Child Victims Act.

In 2020, Fr. Green was named in another lawsuit against the Diocese of Buffalo. He was accused of sexually abusing a minor. The details of the sexual abuse allegations, including when and where the alleged abuse occurred, or the victim’s age/gender, are unknown.
