Summary of Abuse Allegations against Deacon Albert Mazza:
Deacon Albert Mazza was ordained a permanent deacon in the Archdiocese of New York. According to media reports, in 2013, he was accused of engaging in immoral and illegal conduct with minors as long as 30 years before he became a deacon in 1996. The allegations were substantiated and credible, but no charges were filed due to the expiration of the statute of limitations. He was removed from ministry and later laicized.
In April 2019, Mazza’s name appeared on the Archdiocese of New York’s list of clergy credibly accused of sex abuse of minors. Claims against him are eligible to be settled through the Independent Reconciliation and Compensation Program (IRCP). He is believed to be living in Carmel, New York.
