Summary of Allegations Against Father Anujit Kumar:

Father Anujit Kumar, a native of India, was ordained a priest in 2002, who served in the Diocese of Pittsburgh. According to media reports, in September 2008, a minor female altar server reported to the Allegheny County District Attorney’s Office that Father Kumar had kissed her lips, using his tongue, given her a present, handed her his business card and inquired about her telephone number. This behavior was observed by other altar servers.

Father Kumar admitted to kissing the girl when interviewed by members of the Diocese of Pittsburgh. He claimed he was attempting to “recruit her for the convent.” The victim and her family did not want to prosecute.

Kumar was named publicly as accused in a priest profile in the 2018 Pennsylvania Grand Jury Report.

His current whereabouts are unknown.
