Summary of Abuse Allegations against Father Bernard Brian Hanley:

Father Bernard Brian Hanley was an extern priest from Ireland ordained in 1958, who served in multiple parishes in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. He returned to Ireland in 1965 and remained in ministry through at least the early 2000s. According to media reports, in 2002 or 2003 a woman alleged he had sexually abused her when she was 4 years old. In 2004, he was named in a civil suit alleging he abused two minors in 1965 while working at La Purisima Concepcion in Lompoc, California. The Church did not believe the allegations.

In January 2013, his personnel file was released. Father Hanley’s name was included in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles’ 2005 report addendum of clergy credibly accused of sexual abuse of minors. As of 2013, he was reportedly an active priest residing in Ireland. His current whereabouts are unknown.
