Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Fr. Brennan Harris:

Fr. Brennan Harris was a religious order priest with the Franciscan Province of Our Lady of Consolation. He was ordained in 1969 and served in multiple high schools in Indiana, Michigan, and in the the Diocese of Lake Charles in Louisiana. According to media reports, in 2018, Fr. Harris was publicly named on the Archdiocese of Indianapolis list of clergy credibly accused of sexual abuse with a minor. It noted one allegation of child sexual abuse in 1971. Information regarding the age/gender of his alleged victim and the nature of the alleged sexual abuse was not provided by the archdiocese. Fr. Harris was removed from public ministry.

Fr. Brennan Harris’ name also appears on the Diocese of Lake Charles 2019 list of clergy credibly accused of child sexual abuse. It noted allegations of abuse in 1983-1987 against Fr. Harris were received in 1991 and 1995. The alleged abuse involved more than one victim, and occurred when Fr. Harris was the principal at St. Maria Goretti High School in Lake Arthur. The Diocese of Lake Charles did not provide information regarding the age/gender of Harris’ alleged victims or the nature of the alleged abuse.

Fr. Brennan Harris died at 52 in 1985, in Baton Rouge, LA.
