Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations Against Father Carl Bartholomew:

Carl Bartholomew entered the priesthood at the age of 53. Prior to ordination, he enlisted in the Army during the Vietnam War. After his tour of duty, Fr. Bartholomew returned to the United States, went back to school, and received a chiropractic doctorate. He practiced ten years in West Virginia and then moved to Sarasota, Fl. Bartholomew continued to work in a successful general clinical practice in Sarasota when he became more and more involved in St. Martha Parish. He attended daily Mass and was asked to be a eucharistic minister in 2000.

In 2002, a mother alleged that Bartholomew molested her 16-year-old son in 1994 when Bartholomew was a chiropractor in Bradenton, FL. The Diocese of Venice did not investigate due to his order affiliation and was allowed to continue teaching at St. Martha School.
