Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Father Carl Davidson:

In March of 2004, a man came forward with allegations against Father Carl Davidson for trying to molest him as a boy during an overnight stay at a rectory in St. John Vianney Prep School in New Orleans. The alleged incident occurred in 1980 when Davidson was a music teacher at the school. The man also claimed that he told both his parents and school officials about what happened with Father Davidson and no action was taken.

In 2002, a second accuser came forward and went straight to the Archdiocese of New Orleans and complained about past abuse at the hands of Carl Davidson. The Archdiocese claimed that Davidson was already removed and “retired.”

Carl Davidson has been included on the Archdiocese of New Orleans updated list of accused priests as of November 12th, 2018. The list noted that the allegation was received in 1989 against Carl Davidson and referred to abuse in the early 1980’s.

Carl Davidson died in 2007.

A settlement was made in August 2019 for $150,000 plus $10,000 for counseling for the victim who claimed abuse by Carl Davidson when he was a teen in the mid-1980’s. This man claimed that the abuse would happen during sleepovers at Notre Dame Seminary. According to the settlement, Fr. Davidson allegedly piled the boy with alcohol during these overnight encounters.
