Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations Against Father Carlos Melendez

In January 2019, the Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux publicly named Fr. Carlos Melendez on its list of priests who admitted to, or were convicted of, sexual misconduct with children. According to the list, Fr. Melendez was a priest of the Missionaries of Christ Crucified in El Salvador. Melendez worked in the Hispanic ministry within the Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux and was accused of inappropriate physical contact with a child. Melendez pleaded guilty to misdemeanor battery against a minor. As result, US Immigration deported him back to El Salvador. His current status and location are not known.
