Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations Against Father Charles Collins:

Fr. Charles Collins was ordained for the Diocese of Trenton, NJ, but was transferred to the Rockville Centre Diocese in 1971. In a civil lawsuit that was filed, Fr. Collins was accused of sexually abusing a 15-year-old male on at least fifteen occasions from approximately 1978 to 1979. At the time of the sexual abuse, Father Collins was assigned to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Lindenhurst, New York. According to the suit, the alleged abuse was reportedly taken place at a local Lindenhurst hotel, in Fr. Collins’ car, and on his boat while in the Hamptons. The reports state that Fr. Collins performed oral sex on the child and forced the child to perform oral sex on him. Father Collins repeatedly sodomized the child. The claim settled in April 2020 in the low six figures.

Father Collins died in 1992. He is listed on the Diocese of Rockville Centre’s 2021 List of Clergy Credibly Accused of Sexual Abuse of a Minor.
