Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Father Charles J Durkin:

In 2002, Fr. Charles J Durkin was assigned to Star of the Sea in San Francisco, California when he was accused of child molestation. Just a month after receiving a request for records related to allegations of abuse from the San Francisco District Attorney, Durkin retired from Star of the Sea. At the time of his retirement, he was the subject of another sexual abuse allegation. According to media reports, after Durkin left Star of the Sea, he received treatment at Southdown in Toronto, Canada in 2002.

According to media reports, in 2008, it was noted that the survivor alleged the abuse occurred from 1994 through 1996 at Star of the Sea Church in San Francisco. The child was allegedly abused by Durkin while he was preparing for Mass as an altar server at the church.

Durkin resided in Nazareth House in San Rafael, California before he died in 2006.

Durkin’s whereabouts and whether he had access to children from 2003 until his death in 2006 are unknown.
