Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Father Charles M. Werth:

Father Charles M. Werth was publically named on the Diocese of Buffalo’s updated list of accused clergy on November 5th, 2018. Werth has been listed as deceased since December of 2017. Priests who were included on the list were either living with one allegation, or deceased with more than one substantiated claim against them. Werth was the subject of an allegation in 1994, and again in 2004 after incidents in Ellicott Creek Park. In 1994, he was criminally charged and subsequently pled guilty to exposure and was simply fined and placed on administrative leave by the Diocese. In the 2004 incident, the then-retired priest was charged with public lewdness and afterwards was removed from active ministry altogether. The Diocese claimed that neither allegation involved young people.
