November 5th, 2018, The Diocese of Buffalo released an updated list of priests with substantiated claims of sexual abuse of a minor. Priests who only received a single allegation after their death were not included. One name that was listed for the first time was Father Clatus E. Snyder. No information was given on the number of allegations or specifics relating to his victims. The only information listed was that he died in 2001. The Buffalo News reports that he founded St. Leo’s Parish during his priesthood and resigned in 1960 because of health problems. Later, he served as a Chaplain for the Sisters of Mercy at Our Lady of Mercy Generalate in Orchard Park, until he officially retired in 1981.
