Father Clifton Raymond Etienne was a Divine Word Seminary religious brother, prior to being ordained a priest in 1979. He served in multiple parishes in the Diocese of San Diego, and was an associate pastor at San Bernardino’s St. Anthony parish from 1980 through 1988. He was known for organizing choirs and serving as the director of a summer youth camp at Divine Word Seminary. According to media reports, he was named in a lawsuit alleging multiple incidents of child sexual abuse while at Divine Word Seminary in Riverside in the 1960s.

Father Etienne died in May 1988. His personnel file was released October 2010. In August 2018, his name was included on the Diocese of San Diego list of clergy credibly accused of child sexual abuse. No specific information is listed about the lawsuit or the number of victims found.
