In 2018, Fr. David Gillis was accused of sexual abuse of a minor when serving at St. John the Baptist de La Salle School in Berks County, PA, within the Allentown Diocese from 1996 to 2005. Gillis relocated to Central Florida in 2006. According to a news release, the abuse was initially reported by the alleged victim’s biological father.

Fr. Gillis worked in the Diocese of Orlando when he was removed from his duties as our Saviour Catholic Church pastor in Cocoa Beach, FL, when the allegations surfaced.
