Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Father Dennis J Rigney:

Father Dennis J Rigney was in a 1994 RICO case along with two other priests who allegedly molested two brothers when they were 12 and 16 years old and attended St. Pius X Church in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. The abuse took place between 1963 to 1978. Rigney is the brother of accused priest Philip Rigney. The suits were dismissed when they were settled in 2003.

The Diocese of Camden maintained that these allegations are not credible, despite numerous credible accusations against Rigney’s brother, Phillip Rigney, who was a monsignor in the Diocese of Camden.

However, Rigney’s name now appears on the Diocese of Camden’s list of credibly accused priests, published in February 2019.  According to Bishop Sullivan, the list, “includes those who admitted to the abuse, those who were found guilty after a trial in the church courts or the civil courts, and others against whom the evidence was so overwhelming as to be virtually unquestionable.”

Rigney died in 1992.
