Fr. Eligio Della Rosa served as a priest parish of the Church of St. Rocco for more than 15 years. In 2019, he was accused of sexually abusing a 14-year-old boy in 1964, when Fr. Della Rosa worked at St. Anthony of Padua in Rocky Point. The lawsuit was settled out-of-court with the Diocese of Rockville Centre and the allegations were found credible. The victim stated in a press conference that he was forced to perform oral sex on Father Della Rosa numerous times.
