Summary of Abuse Allegations Against Father Felix R. Colosimo:
According to media reports, in 2013, a man accused Father Felix R. Colosimo of sexually abusing him starting at the age four and continuing for about a decade. After an investigation, the Diocese of Syracuse deemed the allegation credible.
In June 2017, the same man filed a lawsuit against the Diocese of Syracuse in Connecticut. He said the abuse began in 1978 or 1979, while Colosimo was assigned to St. Peter in Utica. The lawsuit alleged that Colosimo continued to abuse him on trips that the Diocese of Syracuse promoted, planned, and paid for to Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Massachusetts, and Connecticut.
On one occasion Father Colosimo forced him and another altar boy to have sex with him and with each other, videotaping and photographing the two according to the suit. The man said Father Colosimo threatened him with physical violence if he ever told anyone. The other altar boy-victim committed suicide in 2010.
Colosimo was quietly removed in 2014. Colosimo died in October 2017.
Colosimo’s name appears on the Diocese of Syracuse’s list of clergy credibly accused of sexual abuse of minors, published in December 2018.
