Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegation Against Father Francis Hartigan:

In June 2020, Fr. Francis Hartigan was named in a lawsuit against the Diocese of Albany.

According to media reports, Hartigan was accused of sexually abusing a minor between 1964-1969 while serving at St. Ambrose in Latham, NY, and at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany, NY. There is no information on the allegation regarding the age/gender of the victim or the nature of the abuse.

Hartigan left the priesthood in 2002. In 2005, Hartigan suffered a stroke and a heart attack, forcing him to retire from the library he was working at.

Hartigan died in 2016.
