Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations Against Father Frederick Dittmar:

Fr. Frederick Dittmar was ordained a priest who served in multiple parishes served in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. According to media reports, he was named and accused in one civil lawsuit of sexually abusing a minor. The details of the sexual abuse allegations, including when and where the alleged abuse occurred, or the victim’s age/gender, are unknown.

Fr. Dittmar’s name is listed on the Archdiocese of Los Angeles’ List of Archdiocesan Clergy Credibly Accused of Sexual Abuse of a Minor. His status as a priest, current whereabouts, and whether he has access to children are unknown.

According to bishop-accountability.org, the U.S. bishops report that they have received complaints of sexual abuse regarding 6,115 priests from 1950 to 2011, excluding 2003. We estimate that more than 4,000 civil suits have been filed in the U.S. courts during that time, and in most of these cases, documents from the priest’s personnel and secret archive files have been produced by dioceses and religious orders under subpoena.
