Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations Against Father Gerald Sheehan:

According to media reports, in March of 2018, a woman reported to the Diocese of Buffalo that Father Gerald Sheehan sexually abued her when she was 7-years-old, all the way until she was 14. She claimed that abuse occurred in the 1970’s when Sheehan was assigned to Nativity of Our Lord in Orchard Park. The abuse would occur at the church rectory, in various cottages, and even in her own home. The victim had told her brother about the abuse, and he tried to come forward to the diocese in 1994.

After he disclosed the abuse, Gerald Sheehan was still kept in active ministry. Another accuser has come forward as of August 2019, and filed a lawsuit claiming that Sheehan had molested a 7-year-old in 1973, while assigned to St. Martin of Tours in South Buffalo. Gerald Sheehan spent 42 years as a priest, and died in 2006.
