Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations Against Father Howard Slack:

Father Howard Slack was ordained to the priesthood in the Diocese of Buffalo in 1959. In November 2018, his name was added to the Diocese’s updated list of priests credibly accused of child sexual abuse. The list only included deceased priests who had more than one credible accusation of abuse made against them. Details of the allegation, including when and where the alleged misconduct occurred, are unknown. The only information disclosed was that Father Slack died in 1976.

According to media reports, in September 2019, Father Slack was accused in a lawsuit filed under the NY Child Victims Act of repeatedly sexually abusing a 15-year-old boy from 1964-1965. At the time of the alleged abuse, he was assigned to Immaculate Conception parish. The anonymous plaintiff is now more than 70 years old and lives in Amherst.

Most of the more than 140 Child Victims Act lawsuits filed against the diocese don’t include much detail about the allegations of child sex abuse lodged against priests.
