Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Fr. J. Bart Nadal:

Fr. J. Bart Nadal, a native of Spain, was ordained a priest of the Theatine Fathers in 1947. He moved to the U.S. in 1949, and served in multiple parishes in the Archdiocese of Denver. He held prominent positions, including rector of St. Andrew’s Seminary in Denver and collaborator for the Liturgical Congress of the Denver and Pueblo dioceses.

According to media reports, in 1989, while Nadal was assigned to Holy Family in Fort Collins, the District Attorney’s Office filed two counts of sexual assault on a child against him. The alleged abuse occurred on September 5, 1988, and involved two sisters who were 7 and 8 years old at the time of the incident. The younger of the two sisters accused Nadal of fondling her under her clothing when he drove her home in his truck from a fishing trip to Poudre Canyon. When the girl moved to the far side of the truck to escape Nadal, she claimed that he began to fondle her older sister.

Fr. Nadal was removed from his assignment at Holy Family and was later acquitted on both charges.

He died in 2015.
