Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Fr. John Zolondek:

Fr. John Zolondek was ordained a priest in 1938, who served in multiple parishes in the Diocese of Allentown. According to media reports, in Not much is known about Father John Zolondek’s time in the Diocese of Allentown, as the majority of his career was spent in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia prior to the creation of the Allentown Diocese in 1961.

Zolondek is not identified or discussed in the August 2018 PA Grand Jury report. His name appears on the August 2018 list of credibly accused perpetrators released by the Diocese of Allentown.  No information or context about the allegation is given except to say that it was received after his death.  Notably, the Diocese of Allentown did not offer a caveat that the conduct occurred prior to the formation of the Diocese of Allentown and therefore it was referred to the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, as it did in the cases of numerous other priests.  This suggests that the misconduct is alleged to have occurred sometime after the creation of the Diocese of Allentown in 1961 and before Zolondek’s death in 1962, while he was working at Reading Central Catholic High School.

According to his obituary, Zolondek died after suffering a heart attack in his office at Reading Central Catholic High School.
