Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Father John Hyland:

In May of 2002, a woman reported to the Diocese of Charlotte that Father John Hyland sexually abused her as a minor from 1964 until 1966. The alleged abuse occurred at St. Pius X Catholic School when she was a student.

At the time the abuse is said to have occurred, the school was under the supervision of the Diocese of Raleigh. In 2018, the Diocese of Raleigh publicly named Hyland on its list clergy accused of sexual abuse of minors. It also notes that there were “subsequent reports of abuse.”

John Hyland retired and has been deceased since 1975.
