Summary of Abuse Allegations against Father John Lugowski:

Fr. John Lugowski was a Franciscan order priest. According to media reports, in 1987, he pleaded guilty to felony counts of sexual abuse and sodomy of a 10-year-old boy from Binghamton, New York. The Franciscan order sent him to The Southdown Institute, a psychiatric counseling center for clergy near Toronto, for 11 months before he was sentenced to one year in county jail. He served 8 months.

Lugowski admitted to sexual contact with a total of five boys between 1981 and 1987. He resigned from the priesthood in 1989. He said he met all of his victims through the YMCA and not his parish. None of the victims filed lawsuits against him or the order.
