Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Father John Harrington:

Fr. John Harrington, was a priest of the Oregon Province, ordained in 1948. He briefly served in the Diocese of San Jose. According to media reports, in 2011, his name was included on the Oregon Province’s 2011 list of clergy identified as perpetrators of sexual abuse. As part of the Jesuits Reorganization Plan, the province agreed to post on its website the names of all members of the province who are identified as perpetrators of sexual abuse in proofs of claims filed in the bankruptcy case, and who have not denied the allegation.

In 2018, Harrington’s name was included on the Jesuits West Province list of clergy credibly accused of child sexual abuse. It noted allegations reported in 2009 in reference to abuse that took place in 1975. At the time, Harrington was assigned to Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington. Information about the age/gender of his alleged victim/victims or the nature of the alleged sexual abuse is unknown.

Fr. Harrington died in 2004.
