Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Father John J. Sardina:

In late September of 2018, another retired priest was suspended from ministry in the Buffalo Diocese due to sexual abuse allegations. The Diocese announced that Father John Sardina, 86, was placed on administrative leave while the investigation against him was pending. The victim who spoke out against Sardina claims that she was only 12-years-old when the abuse occurred in the late 1960’s. Although he denied the claims against him, Father John Sardina did admit to being sent to counseling during his priesthood due to “consensual” sex he had with women. Sardina currently lives in a residence for retired priests in Depew and has refused to comment any further on the allegations against him. He was allowed to return to active ministry as of March 2019, after the Diocesan Review Board deemed the allegation unsubstantiated.
