Fr. John Ramsay was ordained a priest in 1956, who served in multiple parishes in the Diocese of Norwich. He volunteered and taught religious instruction classes at St. Adalbert in Enfield.
According to media reports, in 2019, Ramsay’s name was included on the Diocese of Norwich list of clergy credibly accused of child sexual abuse. Ramsay also worked for the Archdiocese of Hartford and was also included on the Archdiocese of Hartford list of priests accused of sexual abuse. Information about the age/gender of his alleged victim/victims, the nature of the alleged sexual abuse, or Ramsay’s assignments at the time of the alleged abuse is unknown.
Ramsay retired in 1977.
Following retirement, Father Ramsay moved to Florida, where he was employed as a teacher at St. Anthony Catholic School during the 1983-1984 school year. He was relieved of his position at the school in December 1983 for unprofessional behavior related to boundary violations. During his employment, Father Ramsay also received faculties for ministry in the Diocese of St. Petersburg, which were revoked shortly after his dismissal.
