Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations Against Father Jose Luis Contreras:

In 1987, Fr. Jose Luis Contreras was accused of touching the genitals of a 17-year-old boy, who was a patient at a San Antonio, TX, hospital where Contreras was chaplain. Contreras was removed from ministry and sent to treatment. According to the list, he was barred from working in San Antonio-area churches again. It also stated that Contreras returned to Mexico to be with his sister in Guadalajara shortly after. Contreras came back to the US and was able to work as a priest after the allegation. He worked in the Diocese of Santa Rosa from 1995-2000, then returned back to Mexico. He retired in 2017. In 2019, Fr. Jose Luis Contreras was named on the list of sexually abusive priests released by the Archdiocese of San Antonio.
