Summary of Abuse Allegations against Father Joseph Fitzpatrick:

Father Joseph Fitzpatrick was ordained a priest of the Jesuit Fathers and Brothers and served in the Archdiocese of Newark. He served in multiple parishes throughout his career. In 2002, he was permanently removed from ministry after an investigation of allegations of child sexual abuse. According to media reports, in January 2019, his name appeared on the Northeast Province Jesuits list of Jesuits with credible allegations of sexual abuse of minors. It noted a report received in 1999 of child sexual abuse in the 1980s. In August 2019, he was accused in a lawsuit filed under the NY Child Victims Act, of molesting a 10 to 11-year-old altar server at St. Mary’s in Manhasset from 1982 to 1983. He is currently being monitored by Jesuit authorities with no access to minors and limited access to technology and travel.
