Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Father Joseph J. Kershner:

Fr. Joseph J. Kershner was the Principal of Cardinal Gibbons High School when he was suspended in June of 2002 due to allegations of abuse in the 1980s.

According to media reports, Kershner allegedly grabbed a student’s buttocks. Two male teachers also complained that he groped them. Kershner was cleared by the Review Board in December of 2002 and returned to active ministry. He then retired because of health problems.

In approximately 2010, Kershner was named in a civil suit that was filed in Florida.

Very little is known of Kershner’s activities within the church as the Archdiocese of Miami has not released any information about Kershner’s assignment history.

Kershner died in 2016.
